Purpose

This position is to direct the planning, coordination, budget, staffing, billing, invoicing and oversight of all athletic game management for the department. Assist with other large-scale special events including national, regional, and conference championships conducted in Boise State athletic facilities.

Level Scope

Provides immediate supervision to a unit or group of operational or technical employees. Sets and delegates day-to-day tasks to achieve operational objectives. A portion of time may be spent performing individual tasks related to the unit; however, supervisory activities must constitute a primary part of the job. Supervises unit operations to ensure compliance with departmental or campus policies, procedures, and defined internal controls. Problems typically involve a single area, process or constituent group. Ensures accountability and stewardship of campus resources (operational, financial, and human) in compliance with departmental standards and procedures

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent relevant experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge and experience administering a championship level athletic event.
  • Knowledge of, and compliance with, NCAA, conference and university rules and regulations.
  • Experience in managing multiple events in different venues on the same day.
  • Knowledge of supervisory practices

Essential Functions

Key Responsibilities

60% of Time the Athletic Event Operations, Supervisor must:

  • Oversees all areas of game management, except for cross country and track and field, assigns specific game manager duties to others, as detailed in NCAA and Conference policies.
  • Oversees the individual sports game management budgets. Serves as the game manager for Soccer, softball and secondary for Men’s Basketball. Assists with all other sports except cross country and track and field.
  • Administers personal communication and coordination with game officials in designated sports, per Conference and NCAA rules. Works with Athletic Business Office to process payment for officials as required by the University and Conference.
  • Schedules weekly game management meetings for all sports during season, and runs the meetings for assigned sports.
  • Supervises and trains individual sport game managers and NCAA and Conference championships managers.
  • Hires, trains and supervises part-time, temporary and student employees in events.
  • Negotiates and maintains contracts with vendors serving game management and facilities.

Work Environment and Physical Demands

Some positions may involve frequent bending, moving, lifting, and carrying material weighing up to 50 pounds; some positions may involve moving, lifting, and carrying material weighing up to 70 pounds; standing up to eight hours each day; working in all weather conditions; exposure to high noise levels and require wearing hearing protection.
