Purpose

Responsible for administering the CAES Technical Assistance Program (C-TAP) within the Division of Research and Economic Development.

Level Scope

Oversees through subordinate Managers a large, complex organization with multiple functional disciplines/occupations, OR manages a program, regardless of size, that has critical impact upon the campus. Significant responsibility for formulating and administering policies and programs, manages significant human, financial, and physical resources, and functions with a very high degree of autonomy. Frequently influences business decisions made by senior leadership. Oversees through subordinate Managers the accountability and stewardship of campus resources and the development of systems and procedures to protect organizational assets. Negotiates and influences others to understand and accept new concepts, practices and approaches

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree and 8 years experience or equivalent

Essential Functions

Key Responsibilities

60% of Time the CAES-TAP, Director must:

  • Work with Division personnel to develop and continually update marketing materials for C-TAP, including brochures, flyers, and website
  • Recruit and manage core team of staff and students to carry out the C-TAP mission
  • Maintain working relationships with various personnel across campus and the community to ensure C-TAP has access to necessary facilities, equipment, and expertise to carry out its work
  • Oversee the budget of the C-TAP program
  • Other related duties as assigned by the Associate Vice President for Strategic Research Initiatives
  • Maintain and construct laboratory equipment in the BSU and CAES AMLs
  • Develop an annual report of C-TAP activities
  • Carryout independent research in support of CAES related projects, including publishing results

Work Environment and Physical Demands

Some positions may involve frequent bending, moving, lifting, and carrying material weighing up to 50 pounds; some positions may involve moving, lifting, and carrying material weighing up to 70 pounds; standing up to eight hours each day; working in all weather conditions; exposure to high noise levels and require wearing hearing protection.
