Purpose

The Executive Director is responsible to lead and manage TechHelp – a partnership of Boise State University, Idaho State University, and the University of Idaho.  TechHelp provides technical and business assistance to manufacturers in the state of Idaho.

Level Scope

Directs through subordinate Managers multiple large and complex critical programs impacting broad constituencies across major portions of campus. Identifies objectives, manages very significant human, financial, and physical resources, and functions with an extremely high degree of autonomy. Accountable for formulating and administering policies and programs for major functions. Operational or program results can affect overall campus wide performance and reputation. Directs through subordinate Managers the development of strategic goals and objectives to achieve accountability and stewardship of university resources in a manner consistent with campus and system wide objectives and initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree and 10 years experience or equivalent including 6 years managerial experience

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills
  • Attention to detail and ability to multitask
  • Experience in managing a consulting practice, client business development (sales), organizational leadership
  • Experience use of continuous improvement tools (LEAN, Six Sigma, etc.)
  • Oral and written communication skills
  • Experience with manufacturing  businesses
  • Ability to effectively problem solve and make decisions

Essential Functions

Key Responsibilities

60% of Time the TechHelp, Executive Director must:

  • Lead the TechHelp organization to fulfill its mission, remain a Center in good standing relative to university, state, and federal funds, and remain financially sound.
  • Provide organizational vision and lead strategic planning effort.
  • Direct responsibility for facilitating field consulting operations, including business development and sales, project work scheduling and capacity management, monitoring status of projects, and project pricing.
  • Advocate for client and employee satisfaction and professional development of staff.
  • Regularly travel to field operations across Idaho
  • Secure and manage on-going and new grants to maintain and grow the TechHelp program.
  • Coordinate TechHelp activities with university units and public agencies in the State of Idaho.
  • Lead the Tech Help home office team in ensuring customer satisfaction of federal grant funds, state government and university stakeholders.

Work Environment and Physical Demands

Some positions may involve frequent bending, moving, lifting, and carrying material weighing up to 50 pounds; some positions may involve moving, lifting, and carrying material weighing up to 70 pounds; standing up to eight hours each day; working in all weather conditions; exposure to high noise levels and require wearing hearing protection.

Required to regularly travel across Idaho
