Equivariant signatures for symmetric knots
Abstract:
There is a strong connection between 4-manifold topology and knot theory. One of the most elementary ways to see this connection is with the knot signature. In this talk we will recall the construction of the knot signature, and see how this naturally leads to a new invariant, the equivariant signature, in the presence of a knot symmetry. We then discuss computing this invariant for different types of symmetry.
