Bio

Logan Frewen joins Boise State University’s Department of Music as an Assistant Teaching Professor of Music Technology/Commercial Music. He brings diverse experience as an educator, producer, composer, and multi-instrumentalist to his new role.

Frewen earned dual Bachelor’s degrees from the University of Michigan’s esteemed School of Music, Theatre & Dance, specializing in Instrumental Music Education and Jazz Studies. This foundational training provided him with a comprehensive understanding of musical pedagogy and performance. Before his master’s studies, he had the privilege of studying under Grammy-winning engineer Glenn Brown. Frewen further honed his expertise at the University of Miami’s Frost School of Music, where he completed a Master’s Degree in Media Scoring and Production. While pursuing his master’s, he also served as the Head Instructor of Drumline and Percussion for the University of Miami Frost Band of the Hour. This advanced degree and instructional experience equipped him with specialized skills in composing and arranging, producing music for various media, and designing musical curricula.

Prior to his appointment at Boise State, Frewen served as the Audio Director at Southeast Christian Church in Louisville, KY. In this role, he oversaw audio operations at their 8,000-seat broadcast campus, as well as all 14 satellite campuses. His involvement extended to the recording and production of their 2023 live album, Sacred Space, for which he served as both Front of House (FOH) Engineer and Assistant Recording Engineer. This extensive experience provided him with practical knowledge in managing complex sound reinforcement systems and large-scale live audio productions. In addition to his institutional experience, Frewen maintains an active career as a freelance music producer and audio engineer. His extensive portfolio spans multiple genres, reflecting his versatility and commitment to artistic collaboration. Frewen’s practical experience in professional audio environments, combined with his strong academic credentials, will be invaluable to students in Boise State’s Department of Music.
