Tim Thornes recently was awarded one of six fellowships given nationally by the National Endowment for the Humanities under an initiative titled “Documenting Endangered Languages.”
The fellowship will help support the completion of a collaborative project with elders of the Burns Paiute and other area tribes. The ongoing project to document oral histories in the critically endangered Northern Paiute language will result in a bilingual publication to include audio recordings, artwork and photos.
