Presidential Search Firm to Hold Campus Listening Sessions Oct. 29-31

Boise State University students, faculty, staff, alumni and other stakeholders are invited to help the university’s presidential search firm better understand the campus, its needs and its potential for the future in a series of listening sessions scheduled for Oct. 29-31.

Most of the sessions are for students, faculty and staff, but alumni and the greater community are invited to an open session at 5:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 29, at the Alumni and Friends Center.

Alberto Pimentel, a founding co-partner of the firm Storbeck/Pimentel and Associates, and his team will be on campus to develop a new leadership profile and job description for Boise State’s seventh president.

The firm was chosen with input from Boise State leaders by the university’s trustees on the Idaho State Board of Education.

Pimentel and his team will work with a screening committee (yet to be named by the board) on a nationwide search, with five finalists expected to be announced and hosted on campus this coming winter.

The search firm has the added benefit of all of the information gathered last spring in the previous search, but the campus community is still urged to participate in these listening sessions that will help highlight Boise State’s unique attributes, opportunities and challenges with the new search experts.

Pimentel also has agreed to expand the scope of many of the sessions to allow each of these stakeholder groups to weigh in on aspects of the university-wide self-study. Interim President Martin Schimpf called for the study to best prepare the new president and support Boise State’s efforts as the university goes through the re-accreditation process that happens every several years.

Information about the presidential search as it becomes available can be found at boisestate.edu/presidentialsearch. Questions and comments for those unable to attend the listening sessions can be sent to presidentialsearch@boisestate.edu.
