Danielle Swerin honored for community service

Danielle Swerin, a lecturer in the Department of Criminal Justice, was chosen by Fox 9 as the August local Jefferson Award recipient for her community service work at the Women’s and Children’s Alliance. Over the past four years, Swerin has helped victims of domestic violence who are seeking protective orders to protect themselves and/or their children.

Established in 1972 by Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, U.S. Senator Robert Taft, Jr. and Sam Beard, the Jefferson Awards honor individuals for their achievements and contributions through public and community service in order to inspire and encourage others to get involved. The Jefferson Awards is the nation’s largest media partnership highlighting service to America.

A video about her work and award can be seen on the Fox 9 Facebook page.
