Sasha Wang helps students teach, and learn, math components using the MakerLab

Math student teaches math concepts to younger students
Brittany Wayt, a student in Sasha Wang’s MATH 257 class, works with Title 1 elementary students in the MakerLab to teach them math concepts using a 3D printer.

Sasha Wang, an associate professor of mathematics, collaborated to bring youth from four after-school programs at local Title One schools to Boise State’s MakerLab. Throughout October and November, these students learned about 3D crystal lattice structure using the MakerLab’s 3D printer, with help from Boise State students. The Service-Learning activity allowed Wang’s math 257 students to apply their skills and knowledge to the practices of teaching.
