Videos available to help students hone critical skills in an era of misinformation

The Albertsons Library Instruction and Research Services unit is committed to helping the campus community navigate a complex information world. The COVID-19 pandemic has shown the need for information evaluation skills to help combat the misinformation muddying the online information waters, said Elizabeth Ramsey, a librarian and associate professor.

“Now is an excellent time to work with students to help strengthen their information evaluation skills by using current events they are familiar with and can connect back to their learning,” Ramsey said.

The library unit has created three instructional videos discussing critical research skills. While the videos use COVID-19 as an example, the skills discussed will be relevant beyond the pandemic.

The videos are free for instructors to use in course assignments and on Blackboard.

  1. Evaluating Current Information

  2. Researching a Current Topic

  3. Finding and Evaluating Rapidly Changing Scholarly Information
