On June 3, School of Public Service research associates Ben Larsen and McAllister Hall presented the results of a study that determined a set of Boise’s peer cities to Boise Mayor Lauren McLean’s executive management team.

Idaho Policy Institute researchers utilized an objective, statistical approach to determine a set of peer cities for comparison across city departments. This analysis used a set of population and demographic variables to identify a group of cities that closely match Boise’s demographic profile.

The peer city selection process will help city departments standardize their research about peer cities and apply lessons learned from these cities into policy and operational decisions throughout Boise’s city government.
