The University Foundations 100 class God and the Good Life helps students explore life’s big questions and familiarize themselves with the ideas of great thinkers throughout society.
Lead instructor Andrew Cortens, a professor and chair of the Department of Philosophy, has received a $9,000 grant from the University of Notre Dame’s Philosophy as a Way of Life (PWOL) Program funded by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation. The grant will support Cortens’ redesign of God and the Good Life at Boise State.
“We’ll be thoroughly reviewing the course content and assignments in light of learning objectives and creating a brand new website for the course, one that lends itself to both online and face-to-face instructions,” said Cortens.
In addition to the financial support, Boise State will receive ongoing input and assistance from PWOL leadership, including those who created the program at Notre Dame.
“I believe this collaboration will result in a much improved learning experience for students taking our course this fall and for many semesters to come,” said Cortens.
Cortens previously received a grant from the same program for $8,000 to pilot a peer mentoring program in God and the Good Life.
