Bronco Welcome, the university’s signature event for new and returning students, is set for Aug. 18-29, 2020, and Boise State needs everyone’s help to welcome students to campus.

Now more than ever, students are looking for ways to connect to campus and one another and the Bronco Welcome team is looking for help filling its website with those opportunities.

Faculty members and departments that are more comfortable hosting virtual hangouts, such as open Zoom meetings, also are encouraged to sign up.

Each activity will be highlighted on the Bronco Welcome website. All in-person university events scheduled after Aug. 16, including Bronco Welcome events, are being reviewed on a case-by-case basis.

University Event Services also can provide guidance on putting together virtual or in-person activities. Virtual events can be a safe and effective way to reach new and existing students. Convocation, a longstanding Bronco Welcome tradition, has been reimagined as a virtual program and will be streamed via social media at 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 21. Details on other traditions of Bronco Welcome, such as B on the Blue, are forthcoming.

Faculty and staff also are invited to show off their Bronco spirit this fall with a Bronco Welcome t-shirt, available for $9.95. Please place orders by Aug. 4.

Boise State also is recruiting volunteers to help create a welcoming atmosphere as students return to campus. Move-in volunteers are needed for August 18, 19 and 20, and more volunteers to greet students are needed during the first week of class. Visit the Bronco Impacts events page to learn about the different volunteer opportunities and register to help. Faculty and staff are encouraged to connect with their supervisors for approval before registering for a volunteer role.
