Bronco Shop ’round up’ campaign will support Boise State students’ sustainability efforts

The Associated Students of Boise State University’s sustainability committee has partnered with the Bronco Shop on a round-up campaign to support sustainability initiatives on campus.

From now until Sept. 30, in-store purchases at all Bronco Shop locations can be rounded up to the nearest dollar amount; collected proceeds will go into a sustainability Pony Up campaign that will launch on Bronco Giving Day, Sept. 10.

“One current project we are working on is creating a Sustainability Center in the SUB,” explained Emily Her, a global studies major and co-chair of the sustainability committee. “In the next few weeks, the space in front of New Student Programs will be painted and the screens in that area will display sustainability content that our committee has made.”

Her said that some of the funds raised will go towards furnishing that area in the future, while other funds would help launch a “revolving campus green fund” that would support sustainable infrastructure. All of the cost-savings generated from the sustainable upgrades would go back into the fund.

Another recently completed ASBSU sustainability committee project involved commissioning a sign for the BroncosGrow garden, which is aimed at reducing student food insecurity.
