Biden pick for deputy chief of staff has ties to Frank Church Institute

President-elect Joe Biden has chosen Coeur d’Alene native Bruce Reed as his deputy chief of staff.

Reed began his career as an intern for Sen. Frank Church. Reed’s father, the late environmental lawyer Scott Reed, was a member of the Frank Church Institute board. Reed’s mother, former Idaho legislator Mary Lou Reed, has been a contributor to the institute. The Reeds co-founded the Kootenai Environmental Alliance in 1972 and Idaho Conservation League in 1973.
