The life of Boise State retiree Angela Garcia to be celebrated July 17

Angela Garcia, who served Boise State for 30 years, passed away Nov. 20, 2020. The Boise State community is invited to a gathering to celebrate the life and honor the memory of Garcia at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 17 at the Old Timer’s Pavilion in Ann Morrison Park. A luncheon hosted by the family will follow the service. Limited seating will be available inside the pavilion, but guests are encouraged to bring their own chair.

Garcia retired from Boise State in 2017 after providing administrative support for numerous units across campus such as athletics, the Department of Music, the College of Business Economics, the College of Applied Technology, the Department of Community and Environmental Health and the School of Allied Health Sciences.

She also served the Association of Office Professionals as a member, president-elect and president dating back to 1996, receiving the “1999 AOP Office Professional of the Year” award. In 2001, Garcia was named “IAEOP Office Professional of the Year” for her involvement with the Idaho Association of Educational Office Professionals as president-elect, president, past president and vice president, among other positions. Most recently, the College of Health Sciences honored Garcia with the “2012 Excellence in Staff Service” award.
