Strategic Plan requests receive funding

To jumpstart activities tied to the university’s strategic plan, Blueprint for Success, President Tromp requested that Deans and Vice Presidents submit short-term and long-term budget requests in late spring of this year. This initial request process was designed to address the lost budget opportunity during COVID and to ensure the timely and impactful distribution of Federal CARES act funding.

The campus will have another budget request process for Strategic Planning efforts in the coming academic year. Details for this process will be available later this fall. Until that time, we are pleased to provide a list of funded efforts, focused on student success, research development, and relationship building with our community.

  • Bronco Gap Year Program, the College of Arts and Sciences Gap Year/Leap Year program to accommodate students seeking a low-cost, flexible, mentor-led enrollment option.

Goal: Improve Educational Access and Student Success

  • The Clinical Research Institute to support partnerships with area healthcare systems to enhance research innovation, clinical research collaboration and community impact.

Goal: Trailblaze Programs and Partnerships

  • Center for Research and Creative Activity, a new effort within the Division of Research and Economic Development that is designed to augment support to researchers across disciplines.

Goal: Advance Research and Creative Activity

  • Enhanced Scholarship Plan, a major investment to provide four-year scholarships for the first time to Idaho resident and non-resident students.

Goal: Improve Educational Access and Student Success

  • New Fundraising Efforts, University Advancement will strive to increase university resources by supporting senior fundraisers and providing best practices fundraising training to college deans.

Goal: All five goals will be supported as Advancement seeks to support the whole university in the next comprehensive campaign.

  • New Communication Efforts, Communication and Marketing will enhance Boise State’s ability to tell the positive story of student success, research achievement and innovation, as well as to build better relationships with our partners.

Goal: All five goals will be supported through internally and externally facing communication efforts.

The number of excellent proposals represents the incredible work taking place across the university.  As we welcome Provost Buckwalter to the Strategic Planning process, we look forward to proposals that will come forward under his leadership. There will be an opportunity for all divisions, across the university, to submit proposals for additional strategic investments during the next budget process.

We look forward to the progress of these initiatives as together we advance Blueprint for Success.
