Geosciences students and alumni co-author research on volcanoes around the world

Boise State geoscience students Pedro Valdivia and Aaron Marshall published “Mafic explosive volcanism at Llaima Volcano: 3D x-ray microtomography reconstruction of pyroclasts to constrain shallow conduit processes” in the Bulletin of Volcanology on Dec. 6, 2021. Valdivia completed his master’s degree in geosciences in August of 2021 and is now a doctoral student at the University of Bayreuth in Germany. Marshall will graduate from Boise State geosciences program with a doctorate in May 2022.

Marshall and Valdivia also co-authored, “The mafic Curacautín ignimbrite of Llaima volcano, Chile,” in the Journal of Volcanology and Geothermal Research (vol. 421) in January 2022 along with Boise State geosciences students Jade Bowers, a doctoral student, and Megan Walker who completed her bachelor’s degree in geosciences in 2019.
