The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business has re-accredited Boise State’s College of Business and Economics and its Department of Accountancy. Boise State has maintained these accreditations since 1979.

This accreditation is the highest standard for business schools all over the world. Only 3% of schools that offer business degrees receive dual-accreditation for both their business school and accountancy department.

A team of college faculty and staff prepared extensive documentation demonstrating that the college has a clear, focused mission. It creates societal impact by inspiring purpose, creating knowledge and powering innovation. The college aligns with each section of the association’s standards and amplifies engagement, innovation and impact.

As part of the accreditation review, a team of representatives from other business schools and an accounting firm reviewed the college’s report and visited the university.

In a letter to the dean, the team applauded the college for its strong continuous improvement ethic which has led the college to deliver a thoughtful, mission-driven curriculum to its students. The team noted the creation of the Thompson Family Writing Lab and other innovations that serve students.

The team also observed the college’s research impact. The college faculty has published papers in top academic journals. This research is cited in business publications including the Harvard Business Review, Fast Company, BBC News and the Financial Times Agenda.

The college’s broad and substantive approach to community engagement impressed the team. Most of its departments have established community partners such as the Idaho National Laboratory, Micron, Deloitte, Idaho Department of Parks and Recreation, United Way of Southeastern Idaho and many other local businesses and nonprofits. These partners provide learning experiences and internships that develop the college’s students into capable professionals.

Dean Mark Bannister said, “This is a dynamic college of business which is providing outstanding teaching, research and service to the state of Idaho and beyond. We are proud to prepare students to be the business leaders of tomorrow. By choosing Boise State, an AACSB International-accredited college of business, students can have confidence they will receive a top quality education.”

This news is only the latest in a series of accolades for the college.
