Looking Back to 1971

Students posed around Bronco statue
The Homecoming Committee gathers around the “Spirit of the Broncos.”

Fonda Portales, university art curator and collections manager, said that since its installation in 1970, this sculptural Bronco has been one of the most iconic pieces of artwork on campus. Many students pose for a photo at its hooves as a rite of passage.
