Building on students’ superpowers: ungrading, motivation, curiosity and real learning

The Department of Sociology invites the campus to attend a webinar with Susan Blum on alternative grading practices for learning and equity at 3-4:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 27. Register in advance to attend via Zoom.

Why is it that increasing numbers of educators are questioning our conventional grading practices? Can we really do things differently? In this event, Susan Blum introduces some of the principles and practices of “ungrading.”

Susan D. Blum is professor of anthropology at the University of Notre Dame, currently researching education and pedagogical praxis. Her recent work includes “Ungrading: Why Rating Students Undermines Learning (and What to Do Instead).”

The Department of Gender Studies, the Department of Sociology and the Center for Teaching and Learning sponsor this event.
