Nov. 3 panel discussion: Media Approaches to Polarizing Topics

The Boise State University Department of Media will host a panel discussion titled “Diverse Discussions: Media Approaches to Polarizing Topics” at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 3, at the Boise State University Special Events Center. Three leaders in the Treasure Valley will share their expertise on the topic of polarizing issues facing the media industry. The panel discussion will dive into various issues pertaining to media ethics, balanced reporting, social responsibility and corporate messaging.

Featured Speakers:

  • Mellisa Paul: KTVB on-air personality and host of “Idaho Today”
  • Russ Stoddard: owner of Oliver Russell Advertising Agency and champion of B Corporations and civic responsibility
  • Nancy Buffington: professional communications and speaking coach

“Boise State University values diverse points of view, and our role within the Department of Media is to prepare students to enter the workforce with the skills and knowledge to set them up for success,” said Rick Moore,  department chair. “This event is not only beneficial for an academic setting, but also encourages citizens of the Treasure Valley community to consider the value of diverse points of view.”
