Resources available through employee health plan to quit nicotine

As employees may be revisiting past resolutions, or preparing for new ones, the State of Idaho wishes to remind those on its health plan that nicotine cessation aids to help quit tobacco and nicotine use are covered at 100%. These include over-the-counter quit aids like patches, gum and lozenges, and tobacco cessation drugs that can be prescribed by a doctor. Details about this benefit can be found in each plan document posted on the Office of Group Insurance’s medical web page.

Members enrolled in the state’s health plan can also access a 12-week tobacco cessation workshop in the WellConnected section of the Blue Cross of Idaho member portal. For more information about programs and cessation aids, call Blue Cross of Idaho customer service at (800) 627-1188 or e-mail the Boise State benefits team at benefits@boisestate.edu.
