Loyal Broncos: The Bunches – A love that began for Boise State in 1957 thrives

Jerry and Connie Bunch

For more than 40 consecutive years, Jerry and Connie Bunch have given to Boise State. The Boise couple are Loyal Broncos, donors who give five consecutive years or more, and earned this honor for their generous support of scholarships, athletics and the construction of the Alumni and Friends Center.

“We choose to support Boise State because it’s an amazing university and continues to impress us in the growth that we see — not only in physical structures but in the breadth of programs that are offered,” said Connie Bunch.

The Bunches graduated from Boise High School in 1957. While Jerry Bunch enlisted in the Army Reserves, Connie Bunch took classes at Boise Junior College.

“My journey began that fall and the university has been a large part of my life since then,” she said.

Connie Bunch earned her elementary education degree and her master’s degree in curriculum and instruction at Boise State. She taught for 35 years in Boise. Following retirement, she served as state president for the Retired Educators Association.

The Bunches are Bronco Athletic Association members and longtime season ticket holders for football and men’s basketball. Connie Bunch is a past president of the Boise State Alumni Association.

“We value education,” she said. “Our contributions, which are now focused on the True Blue Scholarship and the Bronco Athletic Association, help provide students with opportunities to learn and grow. That’s a good investment for us.”
