Ayers to present March 7 in Student Union: ‘How Genetic Conflict Influences Human Behavior’

The Department of Anthropology presents “How Genetic Conflict Influences Human Behavior” with Jessica Ayers from the Department of Psychology at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, March 7, 2023, in the Student Union Hatch Ballroom AB.

Evolutionary sciences emphasize the understanding of how genetics influences human psychology. However, the functions of complex genetic influences on behavior have been overlooked in favor of perspectives that posit unitary influences of genes on behavior. Some believe that human growth, development and behavior are influenced uniformly by their genes even though previous research has highlighted the genetic conflict endemic in these domains.

In this talk, Ayers will present research that looks at how genetic conflict influences human behavior and will discuss the future directions of such research.
