Michael Allen, professor of political science in the School of Public Serive, was interviewed and quoted by the Montreal newspaper Le Presse for their article “La Chine et la Russie réaffirment leur ‘amitié sans limites’.” He discussed how Chinese President Xi’s visit to Russia and China’s support could affect Russia’s ongoing war efforts, saying that “Moscow does not have the capacity to continue the war in Ukraine.” He also commented that China is interested in Russia doing well in Ukraine as it distracts the U.S. from escalating tensions in Southeast Asia surrounding Taiwan.
