Filmmakers win grand prize in national contest

Buster Bronco and fans jump in air on blue turf

The Coca-Cola Refreshing Films program challenges young filmmakers to create a 60-second spot for the iconic American brand.
Boise State 2023 film graduates Gracie and Bella Hall, sisters from Boise, Idaho, won the grand prize in the 2023 national competition.

Their short, “Expand,” is screening at AMC Theatres, Cinemark, Landmark and Cineplex theaters throughout the spring and early summer.

Even making the finals was an accomplishment. The Halls were one of five finalist teams chosen from a field of 600 teams from the U.S. and Canada.

“I feel inspired by the opportunity it’s given us to practice these skills on such a professional level and to show what we’re capable of,” Gracie Hall said.

Both sisters plan to pursue careers in film.

“This experience gave me an incredible platform and opportunity to direct a spot for a global brand and I’m excited to continue pursuing projects of this professional scale onwards into the future,” Bella Hall said.
