Human Resources launches faculty recruiting website

Human Resources recently launched a faculty recruitment website, providing departments with step-by-step guidance and tools for the eight stages of faculty recruiting: strategic planning, search preparation, advertisement and outreach, screening and evaluation, initial interview, on-campus interview, verbal and written offer, and onboarding. Its goal is to provide campus with the best practices and strategies to attract and recruit the strongest faculty talent to Boise State.

“We surveyed campus last fall to gauge where we could offer support in the faculty recruiting process,” said Kristen Martin, a senior recruiter. “We discovered that campus users overwhelmingly wanted tools to make the faculty recruitment process smoother.”

The new website is designed to acknowledge and support the differences between the faculty and staff search processes, and to provide specialized actionable ideas on how to expand searches to attract a broader faculty applicant pool to academic units.

“Bringing talented, high-quality faculty into the programs here at Boise State is vital to our pursuit of not only improving student success but also for generating innovative approaches in learning, for advancing our research and creative activity, for building lasting partnerships with our surrounding communities and for establishing a thriving, compassionate community,” said John Buckwalter, provost and vice president for academic affairs.

The current “How to Hire” website, which features search guidance that’s primarily focused for professional and classified staff recruitment, will be redesigned with campus input. The first phase of that project is slated to kick off in August 2023, with a tentative release date planned for January 2024.

The Human Resources recruiting team is available to answer questions and provide support about the faculty recruiting process by email at facultyrecruiting@boisestate.edu.
