Users with university-owned Macs asked to wait to update operating system

macOS Sonoma

The Office of Information Technology asks the campus community to delay upgrading Boise State-owned computers to the latest Mac operating system, macOS Sonoma, until testing is complete to ensure compatibility with all standard university software.

The Sonoma operating systems introduces a new multitasking experience and adds updated capabilities across the platform.

Availability to the Boise State community will be announced once testing is complete, which is expected to be by the end of December.

The software update is free, and compatible with most Mac desktops and laptops produced since 2018.

More information about new features in macOS Sonoma is available on Apple’s website.
