Scholars Collegiate Gaming Awards names Boise State Esports ‘Institution of the Year’

This recognition cements Boise State Esports as a powerhouse in collegiate competitive gaming. The team also won the 2023 Mountain West Conference Championship, second place in the Collegiate Rocket League national tournament and numerous other honors. Chris “Doc” Haskell, an associate clinical professor of educational technology, leads the team.

Boise State Rocket League player Emiliano Flores, known as “Durtho,” took home the coveted title of Collegiate Player of the Year.

This achievement follows Flores’ impressive journey, marked by the National Association of Esports Coaches and Directors All- American Award, a Mountain West Rocket League Championship and a remarkable run to the Collegiate Rocket League Worldwide Championship.

A sophomore from Rancho Cucamonga, California, Flores is pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Health Studies.
