Forbes named Boise State a 2024 Best Midsize Employer, ranking fifth among public institutions that were included on the list and No. 51 in the nation as a midsize employer that has “distinguished themselves for their ability to keep their employees happy and engaged.” The university is the only higher education institution recognized in Idaho and the state’s only employer listed in the top 100 of midsize and large employers.

“We have been strategic in our efforts to foster a vibrant community at Boise State University,” said Boise State President Dr. Marlene Tromp. “Faculty and staff work together to create a caring and rewarding workplace that values individual contributions and community endeavors. Because of their efforts, our students, university and state thrive.”

Forbes’ annual rankings, conducted with market firm Statista, were based on a survey of more than 170,000 workers across the U.S. Independent surveys were sent to current employees, employees who had worked for Boise State within the past two years, and individuals familiar with the university through friends, family or peers. Organizations that employ 1,000 to 5,000 workers are considered midsize and 400 were honored nationwide in that category.

“Our team is committed to the development and growth of each employee,” said Bill Brady, chief human resources officer. “When employees are supported and feel that they are part of a close-knit community, that is when they can be at their best. This recognition confirms what we already know – Boise State is a special place to build a career.”

On the banks of the Boise river and in the heart of the capital city, Boise State provides a beautiful working location for its more than 3,000 full- and part-time employees, near natural beauty, outdoor recreation and a thriving arts community. The university offers a supportive work environment with a robust benefits package and a whole employee experience designed to enhance well-being, collaboration, innovation and career growth.
