In March, Clyde Moneyhun, professor in the Department of Theatre, Film and Creative Writing, gave a lecture at University College Cork in Ireland. Moneyhun spoke about six Catalan women poets, publishing from about 1900 to about 2000, who were recognized in their own time but were suppressed and out of print during the Franco dictatorship from 1939-1975.

He also gave a reading of his translations from contemporary Catalan poetry at the Cork City Library. Moneyhun has produced literary English translations of many Catalan poets, including Ponç Pons, Dolors Miquel, Anna Dodas and Maria-Mercé Marçal.

Moneyhun’s travel was supported by grants from University College Cork and the Ramon Llull Institute.
