Boise State eCampus staff members and faculty associates recently presented at two virtual conferences, sharing aspects of the success of the eCampus Faculty Development Program.
Lisa Berry, associate director of eCampus Instructional Design Services, and Chris Lutzow, faculty development specialist in the eCampus Center, led a session during the virtual Teaching Online Toolkit Workshop in March 2025. The workshop is a three-day online live event that “empowers those who manage faculty development or prepare faculty to teach online with practical tools and strategies to enhance their vocation.”
Berry and Lutzow led a presentation entitled “Empowering Online Faculty: Driving Continuous Growth with Microcredentials,” where they discussed the launch of microcredentials as an option for faculty development through the eCampus Center.
Berry, with Jennifer Black and Kim Carter-Cram, both lecturers in the writing studies department and faculty associates with the eCampus Center, also led a session at the Online Learning Consortium Innovate Conference in April 2025. The virtual conference provides a space for innovators of all experience levels and backgrounds to share and collaborate on driving forward online learning.
Berry, Black, and Carter-Cram led an interactive session about “Capitalizing On Online Teaching Expertise: Using Faculty Associates To Help Expand Development Opportunities.” Berry discussed the value of faculty associates to the eCampus Center in helping achieve organizational goals related to faculty development, and Black and Carter-Cram talked about the benefits of serving as a faculty associate. The group led brainstorming activities to generate ideas related to the ideal knowledge, skills and experiences of a successful faculty associate, the types of activities or tasks that a faculty associate can help with, and factors to consider when identifying instructors to serve as faculty associates.
Faculty can learn more about the services offered related to online learning on the eCampus Center website. Those interested in collaborating with eCampus staff members are encouraged to complete the consultation request form or contact eCampus directly at ecampus@boisestate.edu.
