Boise State Public Radio recently interviewed integrated media professor Jefferson Spurlock for an episode of Idaho Matters, a podcast that draws on Idaho voices to tell unique stories.

Spurlock’s episode, titled “What is it like to witness an execution? One former reporter shares his story,” features his story about witnessing an execution as a reporter in 2000. He was one of five media representatives invited to witness the execution of Michael Lee McBride.

Spurlock’s perspective is especially valuable in light of Idaho’s new law making firing squads the preferred method of execution in the state. He spoke about the new law in the Idaho Matters interview.
