Molumby to share interdisciplinary collaboration experience at international conference

Nicole Molumby, professor in the Department of Music and Graduate Program Director for Interdisciplinary Studies at Boise State, will attend the 47th Association for Interdisciplinary Studies Conference in June 2025, hosted at the Linnanmaa campus in Oulu, Finland, by the University of Oulu and Oulu University of Applied Sciences.

The conference, themed “Shaping the Future in the Era of Polycrisis,” brings together participants from across disciplines and career stages to explore multidisciplinary, interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary research and teaching.

Molumby will present on her recent collaboration with Assistant Vice President Jana La Rosa from the Division of Research and Economic Development. Their professional development initiative, “Think Big! A Convergent, Design-Thinking Workshop,” was delivered in the spring of 2025 and focuses on cultivating a human-centered approach to research in higher education. The workshop series is designed to support faculty development by integrating design thinking methods with community-engaged research practices. At the conference, Molumby will highlight best practices in design science research and lead roundtable discussions on the practical application of these methods in interdisciplinary and transformative research contexts.
