Nick Lloyd (BS, accountancy and finance, 2025) is a first-generation graduate from Eagle, Idaho, who has found great success at Boise State and beyond.

He spent summer 2024 on both coasts, participating in two prestigious programs geared toward exceptional students in their fields. First, he traveled to Boston, Massachusetts, for Harvard’s competitive Summer Venture in Management Program, where he attended classes and got a peek into life as an MBA student at Harvard Business School. Then he headed across the country to Redmond, Washington, where he was one of 48 applicants selected out of 4,000 for a 12-week internship in the Microsoft Finance Rotation Program. He interned as a summer analyst, and following that experience, he signed an offer with Microsoft to return to the program full-time after he graduates.
During his time at Boise State, Lloyd completed five internships and held leadership roles in eight student organizations. As a Pell-eligible first-generation student, attending college was daunting, Lloyd said, but he praised the support system that’s deeply embedded in the culture of the College of Business and Economics. “I am a proud Bronco and will forever be grateful for the efforts Boise State makes to help students succeed,” he said.
Beyond the classroom, Lloyd served as the Associated Students of Boise State University associate vice president of academic affairs and president of Beta Alpha Psi, an international honors organization for students in accounting, finance and information systems. In 2025, he became a Top Ten Scholar, one of the highest academic honors for undergraduates at Boise State.
Kathy Hurley, a lecturer in the accountancy department and site coordinator for the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program in the College of Business and Economics, taught Lloyd in class.
“The thing about Nick is that he’s an amazing leader. He thinks about the impact on others and how to support and build them up. For as young as he is, that’s an amazing trait,” she said.
