Sam Martin, Frank and Bethine Church Endowed Chair of Public Affairs at Boise State, was quoted in an article about the recent removal of a gag order and call for release of court documents in the Bryan Kohberger case. Kohberger was charged with the murders of four University of Idaho students in 2022, to which he pleaded guilty on July 2, 2025.

In the article, Martin shares expertise on the unsealing of court documents and insights into the gag order – why it was put in place, violations such as information released in the recent “Dateline” special, and what it means for the case now that the order has been lifted.
