Lee Parton, associate professor of economics, appeared on the podcast Idaho Matters on Feb. 9. The episode, titled “A warm winter raises questions for Idaho’s snow-based economy,” featured a panel of experts who discussed how a low snow year impacts winter activities, the economy and local populations.

As this winter racks up record high temperatures, the majority of the discussion was about winter recreation, where Parton discussed his research on how climate change impacts consumers choices and how that affects the economy. The group also talked about how agricultural production may be impacted and potential increases in wildfire risk.

Parton’s contribution begins at 18 minutes.
