Garrity’s Zoom broadcast of students with nursing home residents

Dan Garrity, adjunct faculty in the Department of Communication and Media, is among the many faculty members who reworked their classes this spring in response to the pandemic.

Students in his broadcasting class, who had been scheduled to conduct live in-studio interviews with community members, conducted online interviews with residents at The Good Samaritan Home in Boise. The facility, managed by The Good Samaritan Society, provides care and services for low income seniors and those with disabilities.

Idaho News, channel 2, featured the class on a recent broadcast.

Idaho News quoted Garrity: “I’m really really proud of how the students have really jumped into this thing,” he said. “I think that they understand that by practicing what they’re learning in school, they’re making a huge difference in someone else’s life. that just feels wonderful.”
