Geoff Black, a professor in the economics department, is the lead author of a chapter in the second edition of the Handbook of Small Modular Nuclear Reactors. His chapter is titled “Small Modular Reactor (SMR) Adoption: Opportunities and Challenges for Emerging Markets.”

The handbook, which was co-authored by Kathleen Araujo with the Energy Policy Institute at Boise State and David Shropshire with the Idaho National Laboratory, is an updated, comprehensive reference on small modular reactors (SMRs). It reflects the latest research and technological advances in the field from the last five years, expanding on the rapidly growing interest and development of SMRs around the globe. Black’s chapter provides a new analysis of the global SMR market and concludes with a perspective on SMR benefits to developing economies.
