Jennifer Martindale, executive director of the Office of Continuous Improvement, is leaving Boise State after having served the university since 2000. Martindale will be going to Simplot to lead a change management function on their team. Gorane Stormoen, who joined the OCI team in May 2019, will become executive director.
During her time at Boise State, Martindale contributed to and led many large university initiatives. She started as the associate controller and her curiosity and innovative spirit was immediately evident. During her earlier years, she was responsible for a diverse portfolio of projects that extended beyond the borders of University Financial Services including: 2009 F and A rate proposal, Finance and Administration division program prioritization, being the project manager for the Student Health Insurance Program for a collaborative bid between Idaho State University, University of Idaho, Boise State and Lewis and Clark State College and being the project manager for 2012 Flashseats implementation (ticketing system for Athletics, Morrison Center and ExtraMile Arena)
She worked on process improvement projects for the Office of General Counsel, Extended Studies, Executive MBA, all units in UFS and the Provost’s Office to name a few. Her skill in facilitation, process improvement and database organization is matched by her leadership skills.
In 2012, a team was created that would allow her to replicate her individual success as a process improvement specialist and leverage her talents to increase the benefit to campus. The Office of Continuous Improvement was born. Under Martindale’s leadership, this team was built and led the campus through the changes associated with the implementation of Bronco Hub and is now a fixture with respect to change management, process improvement and innovation.
Martindale has made an impact on, and inspired, those she has worked with.
“Jennifer provided me with a model for respectful behavior. She was such a productive, understanding, empathetic force of nature on our team. I learned how to better facilitate, how to be more open to trusting and relying on others and how to do things I never would have tried on my own,” said colleague Mike Chambers, program manager in the Office of Continuous Improvement. “She provided abundant encouragement to me, allowed me to learn and improve through experience (and errors) and she demonstrated how to maneuver gracefully and respectfully through difficult situations.”
Martindale has also been an asset in moving Boise State to cloud-based technological systems.
“The promise of cloud based enterprise systems is the concept using the most current release and continuous improvement in the system, i.e. future proofing your core systems. Jennifer has been instrumental in making this happen for Boise State. Thank you Jennifer,” said Max Davis-Johnson, associate vice president and chief information officer.
“Jennifer brings energy, professionalism, creativity and a positive attitude to anything she tackles. She is a natural and gifted facilitator who cares deeply about helping others navigate through change that provides a positive outcome. Her accomplishments speak for themselves. It has been a true privilege to have her on my team for the last 20 years. She is an inspiring force and I am grateful to have worked alongside her for so long,” said Jo Ellen DiNucci, associate vice president of finance and administration.
“I am grateful for the opportunity I had to work with Jennifer. She was instrumental in helping me come up to speed on the systems and business processes at Boise State. Her commitment and dedication to process improvement through systems and business processes has made the university an industry leader in process efficiency,” said Mark Heil, vice president and chief financial officer.
