Ooley retires after 34 years; campus invited to celebration May 25

Denise Ooley, a welcome coach in Human Resource Services is retiring after working at Boise State since 1988. Ooley began at the university working in the student loan office when checks were created with a typewriter. She has also worked in accounts payable and payroll.

“I have had a great ride here and work with some of my best friends,” Ooley said.

Ooley served on the board of the Association of Classified Employees; was selected as the 2019 classified employee of the year; served as the 2020-21 president of the Intermountain West College and University Professional Association; is currently serving on the IW-CUPA regional board and is planning the upcoming fall IW-CUPA conference. After a short break from employment, Ooley plans to return to Boise State as a part-time welcome coach.

“Denise has played an integral role on our HR team for decades,” said Catherine Weitz, associate vice president of human resources. “She loves connecting with people and strives to help each new employee feel welcome and valued.”

The campus community is invited to join HR and university colleagues at an open house retirement party 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 25, 2022 to celebrate Ooley’s years of service. The party will be held in the “kitchen,” located just across the breezeway from HR on the southeast corner of University and Capitol Blvd.
