Shinn returns to Boise State as Vice President for Student Affairs and Enrollment Management

Boise State University has named Jeremiah Shinn as Vice President for Student Affairs and Enrollment Management.

Shinn has been the Vice President for Student Affairs at Louisiana State University since 2019. Prior to his work at LSU, he served in various administrative and
student development roles at Boise State University over nine years, most recently as Associate Vice President for Student Affairs.

“We are incredibly excited to welcome Jeremiah Shinn back home to Boise State University,” said Dr. Marlene Tromp, president. “As an integral part of our Student Affairs team, he helped create the vibrant campus experience our students currently enjoy. His energy, creativity and vision for student support and success will help Boise State build upon our success.

“I am truly grateful for Dr. Ed Whipple’s strong and steady leadership as our interim vice president. He has positively impacted our students and student affairs staff during his time with us, and helped set up our new vice president for success.”

Shinn will start at Boise State in early February.

“I am thrilled to have an opportunity to return to Boise State University. Since I first arrived on campus in 2010, I’ve believed deeply in the university’s capacity to change lives and improve communities. Boise State University has a bright future, and I feel privileged to be a member of the team leading it forward,” Shinn said.

“I am excited to work with Dr. Shinn and I look forward to him joining Boise State University,” said John Buckwalter, provost and vice president for academic affairs, who led the search. “I want to especially thank the search committee for their diligence and thoughtfulness as they vetted an exceptional pool of candidates. I appreciate all the hard work they put into this process.”

Prior to his time at Boise State, Shinn worked at Indiana University and Eastern Michigan University. He is a proud graduate of Arkansas Tech University (B.S.), the University of Michigan (A.M.), and Eastern Michigan University (Ph.D.). He has served as an active volunteer for numerous other higher education and professional organizations during his career, including seven years on the Association of Fraternity/Sorority Advisors board, where he also served as president in 2013. He currently serves on the Association of Fraternity/Sorority Advisors Board of Directors and on the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators James E. Scott Academy Board. Shinn is a frequent presenter and national voice on higher education and student affairs. In addition to being a full time administrator, Shinn is an active teacher and researcher.
