Celebration for Provost Buckwalter July 8

Faculty and staff are invited to join a celebration for Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs John Buckwalter from 3-5 p.m. on Tuesday, July 8 in Incubator in The SPACE, 2nd Floor of the Albertsons Library.

Buckwalter joined Boise State University in July 2021 and has served as Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs during a dynamic period of growth and transformation. Throughout his tenure, he championed student success, faculty development and innovative academic initiatives.

Under his leadership, Boise State launched successful interdisciplinary programs, enhanced advising experiences for students, and improved the promotion and tenure process for faculty. His efforts revitalized academic policies, strengthened communication and expanded leadership and mentoring opportunities for faculty and staff. The Professorial Performance Award has been implemented to recognize outstanding academic contributions, and by working with Boise State donors and alumni, the number of endowed professorships grew significantly, playing a crucial role in advancing the university’s strategic initiatives.

As co-executive sponsor of the budget modernization initiative, Buckwalter guided meaningful financial reforms that will serve the university for years to come. His thoughtful, people-centered approach—and his sincere care for students, staff and faculty alike—have made a lasting positive impact on the university community.
