Strickland appointed to Serve Idaho Commission

Michael Strickland, an adjunct faculty member in the Department of Communication and Media, recently was appointed by Gov. Brad Little to the Serve Idaho Commission, one of four new committee members added to the existing 20.

The commission is a division of the Idaho Department of Labor and administers Idaho’s AmeriCorps programs.

“The new commissioners bring a passion for volunteerism and AmeriCorps in their communities,” Program Manager Emily Straubhar said. “We are excited to welcome them to the commission to share their expertise in advancing service across Idaho.”

Strickland will represent higher education on the commission.

In addition to being an instructor at Boise State, Strickland is the founder of the Human Rights, Collective Inc., a nonprofit that provides education and community-building to work against bullying and discrimination, and serves on the Idaho Commission for Libraries.
