The London Handel Players and baroque dancers Mary Collins and Steven Player will perform the second concert of the 2018-2019 season of the Boise Chamber Music Series at the Velma V. Morrison Recital Hall.

The London Handel Players, an ensemble bringing together leading period-instrument specialists in the field of baroque chamber music, will perform dance music by Lully, Marais, Handel and J.S. Bach. The dancers will perform authentic 18th-century dance steps in costume.

The New York Times praised the London Handel Players for their “soulful depth” and their “consummate skill and musicianship.” Making their debut at Handel’s own parish church, St. George’s Hanover Square, as part of London Festival in 2000, the players appear at venues and festivals in the United Kingdom, Europe and North America.

Tickets for the Oct. 26 concert are $30. Email requests to Jeanne Belfy in advance: jbelfy@boisestate.edu.

The group also will present a free public educational event, “A Little Afternoon Music,” at 3:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 26, in the Morrison Center Recital Hall. The London Handel Players will perform excerpts from their evening program, discuss baroque performance practice and instruments, and answer questions from the audience. The program is supported in part by the Boise State School of the Arts.

Public parking will be available in the Brady Garage.

The Boise Chamber Music Society, the Boise State Department of Music, Hotel 43 and The Grove Hotel sponsor the annual series. Email Jeanne Belfy for more information: jbelfy@boisestate.edu.
