Boise State Nursing Students Volunteer at Saint Alphonsus

Karen Godard, assistant clinical professor for the School of Nursing, and nine nursing students from the Junior Child and Family Nursing Course volunteered at the 13th annual Neonatal Intensive Care Unit Graduate Anniversary Party held at Saint Alphonsus’ main campus in Boise on Sept. 26.

Families attended the party with their children dressed in Halloween costumes to reunite with their neonatal healthcare providers while students assisted with the guest registration, child-themed games, arts and crafts and interacted with the children. Student participation allows the professional nursing and medical staff much needed time to visit with the families and graduates.

Godard and her students’ help was much appreciated. They have been asked to return again next year. The nursing student volunteers were: Amber McKendrick, Lauren Elliot, Amanda Enders, Tim Wymer, Rachel Dixon, Vikki Nesbit, Kim Popa, Torri Orendorff, and Brenna Kreglo.
