Lynn Nichols, PhD, MSN, BSN

Dr. Lynn Nichols earned her BSN, MSN (Maternal-Infant CNS) and PhD (Nursing Education)
from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. She is an experienced nurse educator with
nearly 30 years of teaching experience in both undergraduate and graduate nursing programs. Dr. Nichols has conducted study abroad immersion experiences for nursing students in La Gonave, Haiti and Bangkok/Chiang Mai, Thailand. She has extensive experience with curriculum development and revision, program evaluation, strategic planning and online instruction.

Her scholarship activities have focused on creative and innovative teaching strategies to engage nursing students. She is a nurse historian, with a special interest in demonstrating the contemporary relevance of the work of Florence Nightingale in today’s healthcare environment. She has published in high impact nurse educator journals and shared many national and international presentations.

She is a strong advocate for RN-BS education, and promotes innovative pathways for diploma and ADN-prepared nurses to earn the BSN degree. A nationally-recognized expert in nursing education, she is the founder of a professional nursing organization, the National RN-Baccalaureate Faculty Forum, a group that serves the unique networking and professional development needs of RN-BSN faculty across the nation. She currently serves as the Chair of the AACN Faculty Leadership Network. In 2022, she was named a Notable Nurse of Alabama in recognition of exemplary service to improve the quality of life and overall health status for citizens.
