Associate Vice President
John Kaplan joined Boise State University Jan. 26 2015 as the Executive Director of the Boise State University Department of Public Safety. Kaplan brings more than 27 years of supervisory experience in university and municipal police departments, as well as 11 years as the Chief of Police for multiple entities.

Tana Monroe is the Director – Security, Police, and Event Operations and oversees security, event security, event parking, and compliance and crime analysis units within the Department of Public Safety. She joined the department in 2010 and has had multiple positions, including the role of Clery Compliance Officer for several years. Currently, Tana is a member of the University’s CARE Team and is involved in campus threat assessment.

Samuel Rea Patterson joined Boise State University in 2011 and has worked in higher education for over twenty years. Samuel is dedicated to guest services and understands the value of education as he worked as a full-time student paying much of his own tuition, rent, and living expenses as an undergraduate at the University of Colorado. Rob Littrell is responsible for managing university emergency response activities (including BroncoAlert) for major incidents on campus, management of the university emergency operations plan, Emergency Operations Center, and additional emergency management functions (Mitigation, Preparedness, and Recovery), ensuring all Boise State departments are best prepared for any major emergencies and/or disasters. A former United States Air Force Lieutenant Colonel with more than 4,200 flight hours on the E-3A/B/C (AWACS) and several deployments across the globe. Rob has more than 20 years of emergency and contingency planning experience at all levels in both military and local emergency management communities.

Larry has worked for Boise State since 1987 and served as a Supervisor/Manager of Fleet Operations since 1992. During the 70s Larry served in public office in Wyoming and subsequently pursued a career in Alluvial and Water, and Wastewater Systems Management. He has owned two automotive repair facilities over the years and loves all things vehicle related, especially the challenges and opportunities Fleet Management provides for his ongoing personal and professional development. He enjoys flyfishing, hiking, gardening, and recreational gold panning. Any day in the mountains on a quiet river is a good day!

Gabe has been with Boise State for four years as the coordinator of the campus bicycle shop, the Cycle Learning Center. He enjoys sharing his passion for riding bicycles for transportation and recreation by leading Mountain Bike Monday group rides, commuting to work by bike year around, and participating in adventure rides in the Boise foothills. Gabe loves snow too and is a huge fan of alpine and backcountry skiing. Traveling to see and explore new outdoor wonders is a favorite pass time, as well as gardening and sipping coffee.

Steve Ritter oversees Boise State’s Bike Program and helped it become a Gold Level University. He is now concentrating on bike routes and shelters. He teaches a weekly commuter bike class to help. Ritter has been a daily bicycle commuter for his eight years at the university, and was once an avid mountain biker. He now prefers whitewater kayaking but still gets to the trails from time to time. He is currently a Senior working towards a Bachelor of Science in Biology.

I began teaching Automotive Technology At Boise State and The College of Western Idaho. I enjoyed working with students and was involved as an adviser with several student groups. Kim Gibbons
Fabrication and Parking Maintenance Specialist
Kimberly has worked for Boise State since 2003. First as a temporary employee, then as a classified employee. She has worked in multiple capacities in support areas of Boise State University and has had experience in a wide range of occupations from Military Intelligence to designing and creating signs, banners, and stickers. Kim is currently working out of the sign shop for the Department of Public Safety making signs and permits, and fixing and programming meters and parking kiosks.

Kimberly has worked for Boise State since 2003. First as a temporary employee, then as a classified employee. She has worked in multiple capacities in support areas of Boise State University and has had experience in a wide range of occupations from Military Intelligence to designing and creating signs, banners, and stickers. Kim is currently working out of the sign shop for the Department of Public Safety making signs and permits, and fixing and programming meters and parking kiosks.
