Security Cameras and Video Management
During August 2017, the university migrated most of the security cameras from seven disparate video management systems and servers to Avigilon ACC 6 video management system (VMS). This new VMS has made the management of cameras and retrieval of recorded video much more efficient for the Department of Public Safety and law enforcement. Avigilon ACC 6 also provides integration capabilities with the Manitou CS alarm system and the new OnGuard card access system.
Phase 1 of the exterior security camera installation project will be complete by mid-August 2018. The university will have 49 cameras across the campus providing coverage of important pedestrian traffic zones and key vehicle traffic zones. As funding becomes available, Public Safety will continue to add exterior cameras to provide greater coverage on campus.
Departments may request security cameras by filling out the Integrated Security Technology Request Form. Department specific cameras will be funded by the requesting department. Departments may also request a Security Assessment.
